Regardless of the non approval of the $350m World Bank loan by the Nigerian Senate for the Kaduna State Government, a group called, Kaduna Concerned Citizens, has said that even if Kaduna State does not collect the loan, “the Federal Government is collecting on it’s behalf”.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday in Kaduna, northwest of the country, the leader of the group, Abdulazeez Musa said the excuse given by the Senate as to the size of the loan and the viability of the state to repay the loan was baseless, unfounded, and self serving.

The Creditor and Ratings Agency, the group said, had clearly stated that Kaduna State could manage the loan facility which has 10 years moratorium and a 40 years repayment period.

The group argued that so many States that have applied along side Kaduna for such loan facility have been granted approval by the Senate, but for personal interest and ego, 3 senators representing the state, thwarted the move “because of their differences with the state Governor.”

It noted that despite the frosty relationship between a senator and Kano State Governor, such did not stop in getting the approval of the Senate for Kano to access the loan from the world bank.

This, according to the group, shows maturity and drawing a link between personal interest and the overriding public interest.

From the foregoing, the group said, it has come to the conclusion that the 3 senators were enemies of progress of the state and it’s people and therefore declared them “personal non-grata”.

The group therefore solicited the support of the people, saying, that it has commenced the process of recalling the senators for committing what it called a ” heinous crime against our state”.
