Gombe State Government northeast Nigeria has called for collaborative efforts in tackling youth restiveness in the country.
Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Student Affairs, Faruq Yarma made the call at a lecture on Youth Restiveness and Effects of Youth Engagement in Nigeria organised by Peace Corps of Nigeria.
“Constructive efforts come by way of various forms of youth engagement like employment, entrepreneurship, development, training and skills acquisition programme.
“Setting up various forms of programmes should be championed by the Federal and state governments to improve the lives of youth in Nigeria.
“Youth should be given financial intervention and engaged in public service, this would be the solution to youth challenges in the country”, the Commissioner said.
Also speaking the State Commandant of the Peace Corps, Alhaji Jibir said that youth restiveness is a challenge to the society hence the need for all hands to be on deck to check the menace.
He said that the organisation under Dickson Akoh is committed to ensuring betterment of youth in the country as well as making sure that a great number of them secure permanent employment.
He however urged Youth in the country to be good citizens of their father land.
In a goodwill message, a diplomat, Ambassador Haruna Garba expressed delight with the programme and appealed to the President to take a second look at the Peace Corps of Nigeria bill by assenting to it.
