Nigeria: 4 Men Docked Over Abduction In Abuja

Nigeria Police on Wednesday arraigned four men, Vincent Ekundayo, Nasiru Abu, Babatunde Akeem and Simeon Ogaga in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja for alleged abduction.

‎Ekundayo 24, Abu 27, Akeem 22 and Ogaga 28 all of Byazhin, Kubwa, Abuja were docked on charges‎ of criminal conspiracy and abduction, offences they pleaded not guilty to.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun told the court that one Ibrahim Amos reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Feb. 19.

He said the defendants abducted the complainant’s daughter ‎and kept her in a room at Peze Byazhin Across, Kubwa, Abuja.

He further said the defendants attempted to demand money from Amos for the release of the abducted girl, but were caught and arrested.

Olanipekun said the girl was found in the same room with the defendants adding that the offence contravened Sections‎ 97 and 272 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mohammed Marafa, however granted the defendants bail of N100, 000 each in like sum with one surety each, resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned the case until April 23, for hearing.
