Some Journalists were on Thursday  barred by the State Security Service from covering  President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Zamfara State

Those  barred, according to reports, included the Chairman Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ((NUJ), Zamfara State Council,  Maiharaji Altine Salah and about  20 others.

The Correspondents Chairman who was among the  few journalists  with the accreditation cards were stopped at the entrance of the Government House hall where  President Buhari was expected to address  stakeholders.

The DSS said journalists representing various media organizations from within and outside Zamfara state were not allowed as they were  other journalists  in the hall which prompted argument between the journalists and the Security operatives stationed at the entrance.

“This is totally embarrassing , we are not allowed to reach out and cover this event for our readers, listeners and viewers, and this is a blackout caused by security agents which is very wrong especially in a political dispensation “, Maiharaji said.

After about 15 minutes of heated argument, the journalists left the venue.
