Nigeria opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has castigated President Muhammadu Buhari for his fight against corruption in the country.
Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Ayodele Peter Fayose and governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Peter Fayose, described the fight against corruption in the country as nothing but a war against the opposition party ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Reading a communique to newsmen at the end of its meeting in Gombe State, northeastern Nigeria, the governors noted that the fight against corruption was not a holistic one but was being done to weaken the opposition of a smooth ride back to power come 2019.
The communique stated that the present Transparency lnternational report on the fight against corruption by the Buhari led administration has vindicated the PDP and made it the only viable political party in the country.
Speaking on the abduction of the Dapchi school girls by the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram, the PDP indicted the APC of laxity in the fighting against insurgents in the North-East region of the country.
The governors called on the federal government to do everything humanly possible to get the girls back to their parents.
“Several billions of dollars have been said to have been spent to defeat the insurgents but yet people are being killed on a daily basis while other people are being abducted at will.
“The federal government has to wake up to its responsibility of protecting lives and properties of innocent citizens of the country,” they added.
They observed that Buhari has failed Nigerians in every ramifications, stressing that it has not been able to fulfill any of the campaign promises made to the people during the 2015 election campaign.
The governors explained that it is the only credible political party in the country and is ready to reclaim power come 2019 adding, “Nigerians have now seen that all the APC stand is failed promises and political gimmicks to cling unto power.”
The Gombe meeting was attended by six PDP State governors while others were represented by their deputies as well as members of the National Working Committee of the party, some members of the BoT, State Chairmen of the party and other party stalwarts.
