Gombe (Nigeria)- All Progressives Congress gubernatorial aspirant in Gombe State, northeast of the country, Umaru Kwairanga has alleged that sponsored thugs by the ruling PDP have attacked and destroyed his campaign offices in the state.
Kwaranga who made the allegation at a news briefing in Gombe on Monday through the Chairman of his Campaign steering committee, Abdullahi Mohammed said the hoodlums attacked the office at Lafiyawo area of Akko local government area with dangerous weapons last Friday 23rd February 2018 at about 10 pm and destroyed properties..
Thereafter, he added, they went to that of another Governorship aspirant, Habu Muazu, and did same.
According to him, residents of the area who were angered by the activities of the hoodlums raised alarm and alerted some members of the campaign organization.
A member of the Habu Muazu campaign organization who would not want his name in print confirmed the attack on the office to this correspondent on phone .
“The hoodlums also destroyed some billboards of President Buhari and that of the aspirant.”
While condemning what he called the unprofessional manner in which the ruling PDP in the State resorts to in their desperate move to undermine the fundamental principles, the campaign team cannot be intimidated.
“No act of intimidation shall deter the resolve of Alhaji Umaru Kwaranga’s supporters and the APC from the onerous task of reassuring the good people of Gombe State to end the maladministration experienced by them since 2011 till date.” he assured.
He said APC remains optimistic that the complaints lodged with security agencies and political heads of the APC would yield results.
But reacting to the allegations, Gombe State PDP Secretary, Bubs Shanu denied the party’s involvement in the alleged destruction
He said we did not permit anybody to go for any destruction.
According to him, “If they allege it is PDP and have evidence, they can go to court. We don’t do politics of posters in PDP, we have gone beyond that, we are law abiding and that is why we have restricted our posters to our office”.
