Gombe (Nigeria) – Youth Vanguard of All Progressives Congress, Gombe State chapter, northeast of the country, has called on the Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Bank Nigeria, Muhammad Jibrin (Danbarde), to formally declare his interest to contest for governorship position come , 2019.
The Youth made the call in Gombe, after a meeting at the state secretariat of the party.
The Coordinator of the vanguard, Ahmad Baba Iya Kombani, said they believe Jibrin Danbarde deserves to clinch the party’s ticket considering his numerous contributions to APC both at the state and national levels since the party’s inception in 2014.
“Despite contributing immensely to the development of the APC since its formation in 2014, by donating state office here in Gombe and the party’s headquarters, he has never declared his interest to contest for any position in the party, he said.
Kombani said the youth vanguard has decided to support the SunTrust chief executive officer and will purchase the form for him, because of his financial acumen and that he is the only person among the aspirants to salvage the state from huge debt incurred by the PDP led administration.
“Having developed the SunTrust Bank to a big financial institution in Nigeria, we believe he has the experience to bring out the state from the debt, financial bondage and mismanagement of the economy by the seven years administration of Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo,” Kombani added.
He noted that even before venturing into partisan politics, Danbarde had been granting scholarship to over 110 students annually, in addition to settling hospital bills for the less privileged across the state.
