Nigeria: Kaduna Communities To Remain In Darkness For Months – Electric Company

Kaduna (Nigeria) – Residents of Kaduna city are to remain without power supply for the next nine weeks.

 

The darkness according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is to enable its crew decommission the existing conductors & insulators on the line.

 

The company also said it is reconducting with ACC and installation of composite insulators on 132KV, Town 1, line 1 & 2.

 

A statement by the Head, Corporate Communication, Kaduna Electric Distribution, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, says the outage which was scheduled for February 6th to February 14th is now extended till April 14, 2018 and expected to be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.

 

“Areas to be affected include Kakuri, Barnawa, Nassarawa, Narayi High Cost, Narayi Village, Chelco feeder, as well as Nortex, Sunglass, Sabon Tasha, Unguwan Pama, Kabala Costain, Kachia Road and all areas across River Kaduna (Kaduna South).

 

“Others are Government House, Kaduna State University, Police Headquarters, Constitution Road and Catholic Social centre.

People living in the area are however reporting darkness for over 24 hours, leaving them in total darkness.

 

“This people are always lying when it comes to power supply. They keep changing words, if what they say is true, why have we not had light in our area for more than 24 hours. it is their language, it is a way of telling us to prepare for darkness till thy kingdom come,” said a resident of Sabon Tasha, Mr. Istifanus.

 

Another resident of the area, who does not want her name mentioned said, “with the fuel scarcity how do these people want us to survive? This is wickedness in its highest form, and you say we have a functional government in this country? Thank God 2019 is just by the corner.”
