Kaduna (Nigeria) – As Nigeria approaches the 2019 general elections, members of the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) in Kaduna state, northwest of the country have urged the immediate Past National Chairman Caretaker Committee, Senator Mohammed Ahmed Makarfi to run for the presidency.
The Members who spoke with news men shortly after the party’s State Executive Council Meeting in Kaduna said Makarfi is the only option to fix Nigeria.
They said Nigeria needs a leader who has a good track record and that Makarfi is the best and the only option to lead Nigeria to the promised land.
The members were also optimistic that the party in Kaduna state and Nigeria will take over power from the ruling All Progressives Party come 2019.
They however called on all aggrieved members of the party to forget their differences and return home so as to move the party to a greater height
Meanwhile, Kaduna State former Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero who also spoke on the candidature said the party is waiting on the people’s opinion on who would come up under the PDP platform.
According to him, the PDP party will do whatever the people want and not what one or the party wants.
He explained that the PDP family gathered at the party office, first of all to thank God for enabling their son, Mohammed Ahmed Makarfi to finally succeed in reuniting the PDP both at the National and the state levels and also for conducting the national convention successfully.
The Former Governor added that, the meeting also afforded Makarfi the opportunity to thank the entire members of the party especially the Kaduna state chapter for all the support they gave him during his leadership.
When asked to comment on the present Administration, Yero said he had never talked on the performance of the APC Government and that the time is coming when his own party, the PDP will talk about the APC Administration in Kaduna State.
He therefore enjoined all members of the party to be united in order to enable the PDP succeed in the 2019 general elections.
Speaking on the fate of the party in 2019, a Chieftain, Mustapha Bamali noted that Nigerians are tired of APC government, stressing that all their policies are anti masses.
“People are hungry, insecurity, economy hardship, name it. So, we are hoping that come rain, come shine the Nigerian people would change the change” he predicts.
On his part, Former Commissioner for Justice, Jonathan Kish said the party “came to celebrate a distinguished Nigerian, a former Governor of Kaduna state and chairman caretaker Committee of the PDP, we came to celebrate the good job he did, how he was able to work with others patriotic Nigerians across the country to rebuild the PDP and get it back to reckon with, to the point where the PDP is a party to beat”.
