Kaduna ( Nigeria)- New Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Northwest of the country, Austin Iwar, has warned that Kaduna will henceforth be hot for kidnappers and other criminals to operate.
In his maiden interaction with newsmen, he warned that the police command under his leadership was poised to make the state hot and unbearable for criminals to carry out their nefarious activities.
Iwar added that measures would be taken to frustrate and reduce the disturbing activities of kidnappers and other criminals terrorising the state, assuring that strategies would be adopted to create awareness on personal safety and security to flush out kidnappings and other related crimes.
According to the new police boss, 80 per cent of the command’s policing would be on crime prevention and creating awareness for personal safety since individuals are short of knowledge on how to protect themselves.
The CP assured that the command shall maintain zero tolerance for corruption, promising to ensure that human rights of individuals were never violated for whatsoever reason, while any officer found wanting in the abuse of human rights will be sanctioned.
“Therefore, all personnel of the command are warned to desist from acts capable of abusing rights of our people.
“Every case will be thoroughly investigated and charged to court under my watch. I will work closely with Ministry of Justice to ensure that call cases are treated and who ever found wanting is dealt with,” he explained.
He added, “In this regard, I will maintain an open door policy predicated upon all inclusive leadership model anchored on proactive and responsive policing model for improved safety and security.
“As much as possible, relevant persons will be carried along in the decisions making and strategies to be adopted; every policeman and woman has a role to play in this new dispensation .
“I have adequately received briefs on the security challenges of the state which chiefly are different crises in some parts of the state, armed robbery and kidnappings.
“As a responsible police Command, we will develop and implement a number of strategies to reassure the public and deal with these challenges.
“As part of improving the security situation in the State and providing service to our people according to best practice, we plan to involve our communities more in determining policing priorities to serve them better.
“Our focus to provide security and safety for the people of Kaduna state will be adequately captured in programmes in partnership with stakeholders to deal with security concerns of worship centres/place, schools and learning environment, markets and business centres among others.”
