‘Go and sin no more’ was the statement directed to Aduku by some armed thugs who invaded the residence of a former Minister and Deputy Chairman, Kogi East Elders Forum, Gabriel Yakubu Aduku in his country home Anyigba on Monday night.
According to sources, having come face to face with the elder statesman in his room, the thugs numbered six told him that they were sent from Abuja to bring him, which Aduku refused.
Aduku was reported to have told the thugs that if they were sent to kill their dad, they could go ahead. “At this age and with what I have rendered so far, I have nothing to regret, if you reciprocate it with killing me” he added.
It was at this point, the thugs suddenly became weak and instead of their intended mission, dispossessed Aduku of his phones Laptops and other gadgets and left him unhurt, the source said.
His driver was also not spared as he was dispossessed of his phones.
The assassination attempt, the sources said, might not be unconnected with the stance of the Kogi East Elders Forum which in recent times been critical about the maladministration in the state.
