Nigeria: Yobe College Expels 16 Students Over Examination Malpractice

Gombe (Nigeria) — College of Administrative and Business Studies (CABS) Potiskum, Yobe State northeast of the Country, has expelled 16 Students who were caught cheating during first semester examination in the Institute.

The Rector of the College, Musa Auta, who disclosed this while reacting to a petition written by the expelled students of the Institute said that no amount of threat would make the Institution reverse its action against the culprits.

“We will not pardon them, we won’t go against the ethics of the examination committee of the College and the expulsion followed recommendation of a five-man Committee set up by the Academic Board of the College.

According to him, the Committee found two cases of impersonation, 15 students caught copying from the exhibit material “10 out of the 17 students appeared before the committee and admitted being guilty.

“Those who feel they are not comfortable with the action are free to go to Court, my administration would no longer tolerate examination malpractice and cheating.

“I took oath to be fair and honest to all irrespective of any inclination in the discharge of my responsibilities, even if my wife, or son was caught cheating during examination disciplinary action would be taken against him or her.

He disclosed that the saboteurs had made efforts to frustrate any meaningful decision adopted by the school, but the management declined.

“We want to maintain standard in our academic dealings,” he said.

The Rector further commended Yobe State government for the support and cooperation, which enabled the college to be accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

“Governor Ibrahim Gaidam is doing well in the education sector, despite set back brought about by terrorists during the era of Boko Haram”, the Rector said.
