Nigeria’s former minister of foreign affairs Ambassador Bagudu Hirse, has been abducted by gunmen in Kaduna on Sunday.
Hirse was said to have been abducted when he visited the nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mamman Daura at his residence on Inuwa Wada Street in Ungwan-Rimi, Kaduna North Local Government Area of the State.
Africa Prime News learnt that, the former minister had gone to pay condolence visit to the family of the late sultan of sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki on Kabiru road, close to Inuwa wada road and was said to have stopped over at the house of Daura who was at home with some guests and family members.
Among the guests at Daura’s house was the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, although there were also speculations that Kyari was mistaken for Daura.
An eyewitness account said when the former minister alighted from his car and was exchanging pleasantries with guests standing in front of Daura’s house, three men wearing mask, approached the former minister and force him to enter their car (ash colour Toyota corolla car) and left almost immediately.
According to the eyewitness, one of the kidnappers brought out a gun, shot in the air which scares the people that were coming towards the scene away.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Usman Aliyu, confirmed the incident, adding that a team of detectives had been deployed across the state to ensure the unconditional release of the former minister from his abductors.
It would be recalled that in October, a former Minister of Environment Mrs. Laurentia Mallam alongside her husband were kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja expressed way and were release few day after the abductors demanded for huge amount of money.
