The Kaduna state Police command has confirmed the release of the former Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurencia Mallam and her husband Mr. Pius Mallam who were kidnapped last Tuesday on Kaduna-Abuja express way.
Spokesperson of the command, ASP Aliyu Usman said they are not aware whether a ransom was paid before the release but what was important to them is the welfare of the kidnapped victim and her husband.
According to a report by Punch, a source close to the family revealed that a sum of ten million Naira was paid as ransom before their released.
Usman further added that the couple in good condition and has since been reunited with their family.
However, the ex-Minister and her husband were said to have been released on Wednesday night.
