Nigeria Youth Service: Seven Kaduna Corps Members Die, Eight To Repeat Service Year

nysc otondoKaduna (Nigeria) – Eight 2015 Batch B Corps members deployed to Kaduna State for their National Youth Service are to repeat their service year, while 15 others have their service year extended.

Seven other youth corps died during their service year, three won the state’s prestigious merit awards, seven others got the chairman’s awards, while 10 others won the state coordinators commendation award.

Kaduna state Coordinator of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Mohammed Momoh made the disclosure on Thursday during the passing out ceremony of the 2015 Batch B corps members in Kaduna.

According to Momoh, 2, 837 corps members were posted for the 2015 batch B orientation camp, explaining that the eight corps members service were extended because they absconded immediately after the orientation camp.

He said, “This is a punitive measure taken against the erring corps members for violating the rules and regulations of the corps.”

While urging the youth corps members to make use of the skills acquired in the course of their service year to build themselves, the coordinator commended the state for the moral and financial support it gave the corps.
