Kaduna (Nigeria) – Paralympics Teams that represented Nigeria at the RIO 2016 Paralympics games have been described as worthy Ambassadors that have brought glory to the country more than any other team that had ever represented the country in previous tournaments.

Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr. Chinyeaka Ohaa gave the commendation at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport on Wednesday while welcoming the second batch of the Team from RIO 2016 Paralympics Games.

Spokesperson of the ministry, Tolu Makinde in a statement noted that the Permanent Secretary also described the nostalgia experienced through their epic performance as indescribable, saying, Nigeria’s National Anthem was sung 8 different times at the Podium while its flag was flown 12 consecutive times to the admiration of sports loving people all over the world.

According to Ohaa, the feat achieved was as a result of their commitment, hard work, determination and total focus; adding that, “appreciation of their efforts would not end in the settlement of all their claims and entitlements which had been paid by the ministry but promised that the Minister of Youth and Sports Barr Solomon Dalung, will in no distant future, at a befitting grand occasion lead them to our Sport-loving President.”

While commending the coaches and handlers for a job well-done, he posited that they have left their imprint in the sand of times by being the best team in Africa.
