Kaduna (Nigeria) – Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has disclosed that the present Administration of President Mohammadu Buhari will deepen its commitment to revive the Durbar Festival in its quest to diversify the economy and boost revenue generation through the cultural sector.

The Minister disclosed this recently when he received the Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

Mohammed noted that, Durbar Festival is going to be revived in Nigeria so as to reinforce the bond between Nigerians and significantly boost the revenue generation of the nation.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Ministry, Osanyinpeju Olumide quoted the Minister to have said, “It’s about time we also revive durbar. It brings in very serious revenue, Durbar is a cultural festival, and it’s a kind of culture you cannot find replicated anywhere in the world, it’s unique, not because of its colour but has the potential to create job”.

The Minister also revealed that his Ministry will soon commence tourism visits nationwide – starting from Bauchi State in order to showcase exactly what the Governor of Bauchi State has been doing in the last few months.

Earlier in his remarks, Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar, said he was in Abuja to confer with the Minister on areas of mutual interest as far as Culture and Tourism is concerned.
