Kaduna (Nigeria) — Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Saturday inaugurated 1200-bed facilities for its recruits and airmen instructors at the Ground Training Centre (GTC) in Kaduna.
AFRICA PRIME NEWS gathered that works on the new facilities started some months ago in anticipation of new recruit expected to rise from about 1200 to 2500 per annum.
A post on the NAF Facebook page says “the increase in recruit intake is aimed at providing employment opportunities for more young Nigerians who are genuinely interested in serving in the military and, to enable the NAF meet its manning requirement to adequately tackle insurgency in the North East and emerging security challenges in other parts of the country.”
Nigeria’s Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar said “the projects were aimed at creating enabling working environment for personnel as a motivation to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.”
He announced that the present administration will not relent in its current drive until it has achieved a very credible feat upon which future generations can build upon.
The new buildings were named after some fallen heroes including, Wg Cdrs EO Adekunle, SS Balogun and CS Hedima, Sqn Ldr A Mohammed and Sqn Ldr BZ Oguntuase.
