Police Arrest Kidnappers Of House Of Reps Member

Abuja (Nigeria) – Suspected kidnappers responsible for the kidnapped of Mr. Sani Bello, a current member of the House of Representatives has been arrested.

The suspects are; Haruna Adamu ‘M’ (25) Gang Leader, Shaibu Adamu ‘M’ (18), and Abubakar Saidu ‘M’ (30).

It would be recalled that Bello was kidnapped on 2nd August 2016 in his farm along Kaduna –Abuja road.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Don Awunah noted that the suspects were trailed and rounded up at Ungwan Kawu village in Dan Dumi L.G.A in Katsina State following a coordinated investigation by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the IGP’s monitoring unit.

The suspects are linked to the kidnap of other persons and crimes committed along Abuja-Kaduna road and its environs.

The statement further reads: “During interrogation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to the commission of the offence   and also admitted to the various roles individually and collectively played in their criminal enterprise.

“One of the suspects, Shaibu Adamu led operatives to a location in the nearby village (Kawu village) where he buried part of the ransom money – two hundred and fifty thousand naira only (N250, 000) in a polythene bag.

“The arrested suspects are assisting the Police to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang. The suspects will soon be arraigned in court for justice to take its course.”

Items recovered from the suspect include Two Hundred and fifty Thousand naira (N250, 000), and a Gionee phone.

While assuring Nigerians of its commitments in the fight against crimes, Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim k. Idris called on them to always see law enforcement as a collective responsibility.
