Breaking: Rev. Olasupo Ayokunle, New CAN President

imageReport reaching AFRICAPRIMENEWS says the head of Baptist Convention, Rev. Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle, from the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) bloc has emerged the new CAN president.

The election was conducted despite the court injunction restraining the conduct of the elections.

Ayokunle will be deputised by Prof. Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement (MCCSW) from the Organisation of African Instituted Churches, OAIC,

Rev. Ayokunle defeated Prof. Otubu by 57 votes to 28.

By constitution of CAN, whoever comes second in the presidential election automatically becomes the Vice President of the Association.

Outgoing President of the Association Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, announced the result of the election around 2:30pm declaring Rev. Ayokunle as winner.

After swearing-in, they will run affairs of the Association for the next three years.
