Non-Challant Attitude Of Health Workers Made Us Shun Public Hospitals – Kaduna Community

imageResidents of Soba local government area of Kaduna State have cried out on why their wives prefer to give birth at home and outside the government health care facilities.

They opened up saying non-challant attitude of health workers made them to travel as far as Zaria, Zuntu (for those who can afford it) to access healthcare facilities while others stay back at home and resign to fate.

The residents complained bitterly about the attitude of the health workers when it received members of a Non Governmental Organization, Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative, FHANI who were on advocacy visit to the Soba District to create awareness on Child Birth Spacing, CBS.

According to Chief Security officer in the District, Yakubu Ikon Allah said the health care center have been reduced to an idle place.

“we are sad about this development which responsible for most women in the area not patronizing hospitals. They prefer to deliver their babies at home. We have resign to fate,” he said.

Corroborating Yakubu, Sa’in Soba, Alhaji Shuaibu appealed to the government to provide health care center, adequately equipped and manned by competent personnels including permanent doctor, midwives and birth attendants.

“In Soba, we need hospital, well equipped and staffed (Doctors, Midwives and Co). We travel to Zuntu or Zaria to deliver because the women most times complain about the non challant attitude of the health care workers,” Alhaji Shuaibu appealed.

On it part, leader of the advocacy Team and also the Bunun Zazzau, Alhaji Bala Tijjani enjoined the people to allow their wives to go for antenatal and also embrace child birth spacing to reduce and control maternal death in the country.

Meanwhile, it would be recalled that the state government has always charged the health workers on the need to change their attitude to patients while it carries out reforms on the sector.
