Kaduna (Nigeria) – The Kaduna State Police Command in North-west Nigeria has arrested and paraded 41 suspected criminals involved in criminal activities in the state such as rape, kidnapping, cattle rustling, arm robbery, criminal conspiracy and abduction among others.
Various weapons and items were also recovered from the suspects.
This is the first criminal parade carried out by the new commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim who was deployed to the state on 08 April, 2016.
The new state Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim while briefing newsmen on Thursday said, the Police is out to intensify its crackdown on crimes and criminals in the state.
He assured that, the officers of the force will carry out their duty according to the dictates of their rules of engagement while protecting the fundamental human rights of the general public.
Ibrahim said, “the state command has adopted a policy in line with the ideology of the present administration, an intelligence driven, aggressive and well structured visibility policing that involved periodic, unscheduled but adequately organized raiding that is preventive, proactive and offensive against crime in its description execution.
“This will be done in collaboration with the community as stakeholders and in synergy with other security agencies. This approach, i’m optimistic, will gain prominence by its impact on crime prevention and control, hence will enjoy public goodwill,” he noted.
On the arrest of suspected kidnappers, the commissioner of police noted that operatives of Zonkwa Division arrested one Omar Mohammed and Abdulazeez Mohammed both of Ladduga-Tampol village, adding that the suspects called Abdullahi Ahmadu and Ahmadu Mohammed of Unguwan Goska Zonkwa, through a strange phone number, 08175407676, where they threatened and instructed them to take the sum of two million naira.
He added that, seven suspected kidnappers were arrested at Audu-Jangwan along Kaduna/Abuja expressway and two cattle rustlers at Dankande village made away with twenty-nine cows while the victims raised alarmed that attracted the patrol team of Soba Division resulting in the death of one of the rustlers while one Shafiyu Ibrahim was arrested.
“On 19th April, 2016 at about 1300 hours, one Zubairu Haruna and Salisu Abubakar were arrested in connection with a case of cattle rustling, during tbe cause of investigation, the suspects confessed to have kidnapped a man at Kauru and collected a ramson of nine hundred thousand naira before releasing their victim.
“On 18th April, 2016 at about 0909 hours, based on complaint, one Aminu Iliyasu and Safiya Iliyasu were atrested, that one Amina Aminu of Hayin Danmani Kaduna reported that she is s divorced wife of Aminu Iliyasu and that she gave birth to a baby girl, two days later her mother-in-law came to visit her and in her absent and without her consent, the mother in-law whisked away the two days old baby to an unknown destination. The baby was later recovered from the woman and reunite with her mother,” he said.
Ibrahim however warned Police officers against indiscriminate arrest in the state; while calling on members of the public to provide the security officers with useful information and also not to be intimated by criminals as they have the capacity to tackle any formof criminalities.
