imageA Ghanian news media [Myjoyonline.com] has alleged the leaking of the Physics Practical paper of the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the country.

The media house said it obtained the leaked paper Tuesday evening, 12 hours prior to commencement of the paper scheduled for Wednesday morning at 9am.

According to the media, the leaked paper adds to three more question papers that have leaked since the exam began Friday.

“The integrity of examination papers for Social Studies, Integrated Science and Oral English has already been compromised.

“Social media, especially Whatsapp, now provides a magnetic point of convergence for opportunistic students and leaking agents to share sensitive materials much more effectively than ever before.” It said

A source who is a teacher told myjoyonline.com, his Whatsapp kept beeping after 9pm Tuesday evening as several students began sending him the leaked papers.

“Myjoyonline.com has learnt that students of remedial schools have especially become aggressive in securing copies of the paper before the exams in the hope of avoiding another re-sit.

“The fourth leak in seven days resurrects a recurrent theme of exam leakages, a major headache for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) which is the examination administration body.”

Ghanian Minister of Education, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang was hoping WAEC would stem the tide of massive leakages experienced in 2015.

“We have identified some of the loopholes and taken measures to prevent a repeat of the disaster that befell us last year,” she told the media at the start of the exams.

About 274,255 candidates from 897 students are writing the WASSCE in 667 centres across the country.

The exams is expected to end on May 13.
