gov. El-RufaiKaduna (Nigeria) — Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) Kaduna state chapter, say they will continue to demand for the rights of workers in the midst of blackmail and intimidation in the state.

In a statement, NLC Chairman, Adamu Ango and his TUC counterpart, Shehu Mohammad, the duo said, no amount of campaign of collumny from any quarters would deter leadership of the unions from demanding for its rights and the rights of workers in the state.

According to them, the demand for workers to indicate their choice to belong to the union or not, is tantamount to an infringement on their fundamental human rights.

They maintained, that the union membership is a constitutional issue which is
above the jurisdiction of any state government, saying that, labour unions would resist any attempt to polarize and create disharmony among its members.

It advised workers in the state to remain resolute and be law abiding while conducting their duties.

They also urged the state government to publish the names of those workers that they are aiding and the ghost workers in the state, as well as make same available to NLC, TUC Kaduna state councils for necessary action.

Adding that the colossal amount involved, N500,000,000,00 per month; is big enough to assist the government in its developmental programmes.
