Kaduna (Nigeria) – A Nigerian Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone in North-west Nigeria, Shehu Sani has offered 25% of his annual salary to aid women and children who were displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East camping in Badarawa, a community in Kaduna Metropolis.
Also, the Senator offered to pay house rent for over 100 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who are taking refuge at that same community.
Addressing beneficiaries during a sympathy visit on Sunday, Sani said he was highly disturbed about the plight of the IDPs who are mostly widows and children left uncared for; stressing that, the country has enough to make life meaningful for them.
He added that as Leaders, they are bound to give both financial and moral support to victims of the Insurgency – while calling on government at all levels and well-to-do Nigerians to consider the plight of the Boko Haram victims by assisting them in various capacities.
Sani further adopted all the affected children at the Badarawa camp and promised to sponsor their education. He also requested the leader of the camp to open a Bank Account on behalf of the IDPs to enable him deposit the fund he promised for their upkeep.
Leader of the camp, Ai’sha Gamboru Ngala while responding on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the Senator for his kind gesture, and said the money donated would be used appropriately.
