Kaduna (Nigeria) — Tension on Tuesday afternoon forced residents of Kaduna to close businesses, including banks, offices and some schools.

The panic followed a protest by members of Shiite Islamic sect, over killing of their members in Zaria by Nigerian Army in a clash that lasted throughout Saturday night.

Residents of Tudun-Wada, one of the protests areas in Kaduna, said shiite members were demanding release of Ibrahim Zakzaky, their leader, who since Saturday night has been in military custody, after heavy bombardments of his house.

Another report says the Shiite Sect members have blocked Zaria-Kano Road at Dogarawa village.

Early Tuesday a picture of Zakzaky soaked in blood went viral on social media.
