Nigerian Police Calls For Assistance To Accident/Gun Shot Victims Before Reporting To Police

Kaduna (Nigeria) – In an effort to reduce neglects and untimely death of accident victims in Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has charged the public and medical personnel to attend to victims and persons with gunshot injuries before informing the Police, so as to save their lives.

A statement by the police spokesman, EMMANUEL OJUKWU encouraged Nigerians to report any suspicious person to the nearest Police Station, but however noted that citizens should not relent in their cooperative attitude in ensuring safety of all for the fear of being implicated without Police involvement.

It also adds that, the Police commission has directed its Officers and men not to harass good Nigerians in this regard, but endeavor to elicit correct facts in relation to incidence from them.

“Doctors on duty are equally duty bound to treat victims of gunshot wounds and further inform Police of relevant facts. The safety of Nigerians is a collaborative effort of all and sundry. Police therefore, enjoin citizens not to relent.” The statement says.
