Kaduna (Nigeria) – The Mass Communication Department of University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria has obtained a license to run a Radio station. The Department has many years ago applied for the license but was not issued until now.

A Senior Lecturer in the Department, Dr. Mohammed Gujbawu Haruna, said in a Facebook closed group of the department ‘MACOSA UNIMAID’ that Prof. Danjuma Gambo broke the news this morning.

“Finally our Radio license is here! After waiting for years to go on air, the NBC has finally granted license to Unimaid Radio to operate. Prof Danjuma Gambo broke the news this morning while taking over the Station as its pioneer Director. I say a big congrats to all Macosites!” Gujbawu posts.

Already past and present students of the department have started reacting; celebrating and congratulating each other for the success in acquiring the license.

Below are some of the comments made by some members of the closed group, comprising of past and present students;

Josiah Bala Mijnyawa said “wow!!, dat’s an achievement indeed!, 4ward eva mass comm.”

Jack Vince said “Long o’er due. Great to have it at last. Kudos to the HOD, Prof. G.I. Gambo and all lecturers of the department whose efforts have been so crowned with the desired success. Congratulations.”

Yusuf Buba said “I have no doubt in my life that with the radio put in place will not only serve the University but its immediate environment. Congrats again”

Elia’s Ayuba said “Good news, though we were not privileged to use it, I know it will greatly benefit those behind us, congratulation to all Macosites.”

Amin Ahmed said “With this spanking new Fm station put in place, this will go a long way to serving as a platform for grooming students into Radio/TV presenters, dJ, MC, actors etc.
