Trekker Urges Governor – Elect To Deliver On Good Governance

Jos (Nigeria) – A native of Namu, in Qua’an pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, Adamu Miyaki has called on the governor – elect, Lalong Simon, not to forget the long suffering of people in the state when he takes over mantle of leadership.

Miyaki 49, who trekked more than 200km to honor the newly governor elect said the people of the state have suffered enough and desire a change for the better.

The trekker who interacted with Journalists in Jos said he had spent six days to arrive Jos, his destination.

He decried the low standard of education, poor health facilities, and insecurity bedeviling the state, which he wants addressed; adding that his desire to trek such a distance was to express his joy over the change of ruling party in the state.

Miyaki further urged Lalong to ensure fairness, equity and justice in governance.

He also stressed the need for the establishment of banks in Namu community in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, so as to encourage commercial activities in the area.

Member elect representing Qua’an Pan South constituency in the State Assembly, Abubakar Mohammed, while welcoming the trekker, acknowledged his patriotic effort, describing him as one of the few people yearning for dividends of democracy in the country.

Many ordinary Nigerians (excluding the wealthy) have identified with various winners in the last general elections by embarking on solidarity trek, covering several distances, a point some call ‘season of trekking’.
