SOMESHA Mourns Death of Strong Environ Journalist

Mogadishu (Somalia) – A media NGO, Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA) has condoled its members, leadership and the family of Ismael Halane, a member of SOMESHA who died in Tuesday’s terrorist attack on the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia.

A blast on the Ministry has killed nine persons including the prominent Somali journalist Ismael Halane. More than 10 others were injured inclusive of government workers and soldiers.

Terrorist group Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the attack.

A statement by Daud Abdi Daud Dimbil, Secretary General of the Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA), says Halane will be remembered for his keen interest of investigating and reporting pirate related issues.

The statement further says Halane “was one of our latest new members.”
