Kaduna (Nigeria) – A Nigerian Islamic Organisation, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), has joined other Nigerians to rejoice with the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, asking him to consider his victory as victory for Nigeria.
JNI disclosed this in a statement signed by its National Secretary General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar and made available to newsmen in Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria.
The religious group called on the president-elect to fear Allah in his stewardship and be just to Nigerians, regardless of their tribes or religious affiliation.
JNI also urged all and sundry to go about their lawful businesses and to remain calm and law abiding.
“Following the announcement of results of the long awaited Presidential elections by the Electoral Umpire.
“JNI congratulates Nigerians for their doggedness, courage resilience, maturity, and above all, persistent prayers for a credible and hitch free Presidential Elections.
“Despite all anxieties, worries and uncertainties, Nigerians patiently waited for the D-day and spoke with their votes, gently and peacefully, and thus made a landmark in Nigeria’s political-history…. This is a time for sober reflection, humility to Allah the Exalted, gratitude and glorification to Him.
” JNI therefore, wishes to advise that wreckless and rough celebrations and indecorous utterances should be avoided by all Nigerians so that our gratitudes and glorifications would be accepted by the Almighty…. The doggedness of the electoral Umpire, its decorum, hardwork and sacrifice is also commendable….. By and large, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan deserves commendation for his statesmanship at this critical moment of political turmoil for conceding defeat.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement reads.
