In a groundbreaking initiative to enhance healthcare delivery in Kaduna State, Dimagi Inc. and Solina Health have joined forces with the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board (KSPHCB) to launch the Dimagi CommCare Connect Child Health Campaign.
This innovative program aims to leverage digital technology to improve child health outcomes, targeting 50,000 children in Kudan Local Government Area (LGA) with essential nutrition services.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Secretary of KSPHCB, Dr. Bello Jamoh Yusuf, praised the collaboration as a transformative step towards addressing pressing healthcare challenges.
Represented by the Director of Administration and Supply, Mr. Maxwell U. Sanda, Dr. Yusuf reaffirmed the board’s commitment to ensuring the initiative’s success. “The KSPHCB is committed to working hand-in-hand with Dimagi and Solina Health to secure the well-being of children in Kaduna,” he said.
Representing Solina Health, Obiabo Michael, the State Team Lead, spoke on behalf of the Project Director, Demilade Osoteku. He emphasized the critical role of digital technology in healthcare delivery and the far-reaching impact of the CommCare Connect platform. “The CommCare Connect platform is a game-changer in how we approach child health.
It harnesses digital technology and community driven interventions to address immediate health needs while building scalable, sustainable solutions that can transform healthcare across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa”, Michael stated. Program Objectives and Impact: The program’s innovative approach combines technology and human resources known as frontline workers to deliver critical child health services directly to households. Key components include: Vitamin A Supplementation: Maintains healthy vision, supports immune function, and reduces mortality risk from infectious diseases.
Zinc/ORS Administration: Treats diarrhea, a leading cause of child mortality, by replenishing lost fluids and electrolytes, reducing severity and duration. MUAC Screening: Assesses nutritional status to identify malnourished children for timely intervention.
Mr. Michael explained that Kudan LGA was strategically chosen for its low saturation of existing nutrition interventions and as a priority area for addressing zero-dose cases. To achieve the program’s goals, 25 community volunteers will conduct house-to-house visits, ensuring essential health services reach underserved families. Stakeholder Collaboration
The launch event brought together key stakeholders, including UNICEF, the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRIN) project, and Alive & Thrive, who pledged their support for the initiative.
The partnership underscores a collective commitment to creating a sustainable framework for improving child health outcomes in Kaduna State. Scaling Up Innovation The project is supported by funding from GiveWell, enabling the implementation and scaling of Dimagi’s CommCare Connect platform.
This digital tool enhances service delivery by streamlining data collection, monitoring, and reporting, offering valuable insights to optimize healthcare interventions. “This project demonstrates the immense potential of digital innovation to drive impactful health outcomes.
The insights gained here will pave the way for scaling up in similar geographies across Nigeria and subSaharan Africa,” Michael added.
With this collaboration, Dimagi Inc. and Solina Health reaffirm their dedication to transforming child healthcare through innovation and community engagement, ensuring no child is left behind.
