The General Assembly of Tangale Community Development Association (TCDA), the umbrella socio-cultural body covering the seven clans of the Tangale nation, on Sunday, inaugurated its new Acting leadership, to pilot its affairs for the next six months.
Speaking at the occasion in Billiri, Gombe state, Nigeria, the member representing Board of Trustees of the Association, Dr. Daniel Maddo, called on Tangale people to re commit and rededicate themselves to the development of their land, despite prevailing challenges in the Tangale nation and Nigeria.
He said the situation the Tangale people have found themselves in called for deep reflections and more resolve to forge ahead in the face of daunting challenges.
Dr Maddo commended his kinsmen for their “resilience, doggedness and unwavering commitment to stay afloat despite differences emanating from shades of opinions and personal interests.“
Also speaking, a Tangale elder statesman, Mr. Danladi Bako from Tal, charged people of the land to remain focused and determined to birth a new Tangale nation where everyone would be proud of.
“As we approach the general election come 2023, we have the responsibility to change things we don’t like, and for us to do that, we must fully participate in the electoral processes to elect credible leaders, just like we have done with the election of new leadership in TCDA,” he said.
On his part, the new National Acting Chairman of TCDA, Mr. Pheneas Gambo, solicited for unity from all Tangale people to succeed in the journey ahead.
Mr. Gambo expressed humility by the unanimous decision taken by the General Assembly in picking him and his team to serve the Tangale Nation and promised to do their best to deliver.
He said Tangale was founded on the solid ground of righteousness and no amount of intimidation, blackmail or oppression will succeed against her.
The new leader said he will continue on efforts being made to address pressing issues in the community and promise “to hit the ground running in the implementation of the blueprints on ground.”
On the Tangale persons behind bars, he said his team will consult other stakeholders towards their release.
Members of the new Acting leadership include, Mr Reuben Bauna, Acting Secretary; Mr James Pass, Acting Financial Secretary; Mr. Ishaku Bello, Acting Treasurer; Mr Raya Mailamba, Acting Director of Socials; Richard Yusuf, Acting PRO and Solomon Dangoje, Acting Auditor.
The General Assembly selected and ratified the new Acting leadership on 11th October 2022 in its meeting in Billiri town.
Going by TCDA constitution, the General Assembly is the highest decision-making body that has final say on affairs of the Association.
