Gombe State police command in northeast Nigeria says it has arrested a syndicate of five suspects for being in possession of 60 notes of counterfeit one hundred United States dollars in Gombe metropolis.

 

In a statement, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shina Olukolu said the Suspects, Dani Abdullahi aged 32, of Tsamiyar Boka Hotoro, Abubakar Ibrahim 36, and Mustafa and Mustafa Ibrahim 28 years were arrested by operatives of the Police X- Squad.

 

Others are, Umar Bello 41 and Adamu Abdullahi, who were arrested while attempting to defraud one Tanimu Ahmed Idris from Agege, Lagos.

 

Mr. Olukolu advised intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia and the public to desist from sourcing or buying their dollars or other foreign currencies from unauthorised persons or places, particularly those being offered at ridiculous rate as opposed to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rates.

 

While promising continued Combating of crimes and criminalities, the Commissioner of Police enjoined all law-abiding people in the state to continue to collaborate and assist the police with useful information in the collective efforts to serve the society better.
