Nigeria: Kaduna State University To Receive Infrastructure From ICT University, USA

Kaduna State University, North West Nigeria is to be provided with infrastructural facility by the ICT University, United States of America, to enhance learning in the institution.

Signing the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, Tuesday at the State University, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Tanko, expressed gratitude to ICT University, USA for choosing KASU to bring better and enhance learning in all ramifications with a view to rising the institution to higher level in science and technology research.

He also thanked Governor Nasiru El-Rufai for assisting the state University to develop and finance the take off of the project which according to him, would help the institution in its aspirations towards achieving greater results in research in all fields of endeavour.

He added, “We have the need for the ICT University for their services that is why we signed the Memorandum of Understanding. We provide the usage and they provide the services.”

The ICT University, President, board of Directors, Professor Victor W. A. Mbarika, noted that Kaduna State University, KASU, has a great reputation in research in Science and Technology, adding, “It is an outstanding University that is why ICT University, USA is in the university to provide ICT infrastructure.”

He assured that the shifting of the ICT infrastructure to KASU from the United States of America would be completed in two to three weeks time.

Professor Mbarika explained that the commissioning of the ICT infrastructure in the state university would be done in the next two months.

The total cost of the infrastructure according to him cost $250,000. With the installment of the ICT infrastructure, he said, “The students will have full access to their courses online, real time teaching and discussion among students online without the normal stress.

“Lecturers can teach while students that are not present will see and access online. The students can download materials and textbooks online to their system or phone.”

Professor Mbarika said besides Kaduna State University, about 10 other universities in the country have benefited from the ICT University, USA.

He explained that the infrastructure being provided to the university is for a period of five year service and could be renewed for many years.
