In an official statement issued in Kaduna on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Alhaji Maiyaki noted that Comrade Maitama was a dedicated newsman who upheld the highest ethical standards of the pen profession throughout his career, using his platform to promote peace, objective reportage, and good governance across Kaduna State and the nation at large.
“On behalf of the Executive Governor, Senator Uba Sani, the government, and the good people of Kaduna State, we offer our deepest sympathies to his immediate family, his close associates, the Muslim Media Publishers Association of Nigeria (MMPAN), and the entire leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, during this moment of grief,” the statement read.

The Commissioner also prayed that Allah grants his grieving family, colleagues, and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

Ahaji Maiyaki further assured the NUJ, MMPAN, and the family that the Kaduna State Government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the media profession in mourning a distinguished professional who used the power of the press for societal progress
On its part, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kaduna State Chapter, says it deeply mourns the passing of Mallam Jafar Yakubu Maitama, Publisher of Terms Magazine and a dedicated member of the Kaduna journalism community.

A condolence message jointly signed by Sahura Jibril Maidoki Chairperson, and Dr. Hadiza Bello Abdullahi Secretary said the Late Jafar was a humble, committed and responsible media professional who used his platform to promote issues of public interest, culture, governance and community development.
His contributions to journalism will be remembered by colleagues, friends and the wider media community.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, friends and the entire journalism community in Kaduna State.
