Abdullahi Usman Tumburkai has been voted Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Candidates Forum for the 2024 Local Governments Elections in Katsina State, northwest Nigeria. He hails from Dandume Local Government Area.

His nomination among others took place on Sunday at the party’s Secretariat in Katsina, where the 34 elected party candidates met.

The PDP Candidates Forum is expected to serve as a vital resource and platform for the candidates to engage with constituents and collaborate on issues that matter most to their communities.

Tumburkai, a journalist and community activist will oversee the Forum’s initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency and accessibility in the electoral process.

“I am honored to be nominated as Chairman of the PDP Candidates Forum,” said Abdullahi. “This role is an incredible opportunity to bring together diverse voices and ensure that all candidates have the chance to share their visions for our future. Observers believe Tumburkai with a long history of involvement in local politics makes him well-suited to lead the forum. His experience and passion for public service is expected to assist him in guiding fellow candidates through the electoral process.

The Forum is planning to hold town hall meetings to create opportunities for voters to meet and hear directly from candidates and engage in discussions on issues that affect them.
