Nigeria: Jigawa To Submit N44.7b Supplementary Budget To Assembly For Approval

Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the sum of N44.7billion to be presented to the State House of Assembly for approval as supplementary budget.
This is to finance some critical infrastructures, and other social services in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2023

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planing, Babangida Umar Gantsa disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting at Govt. House, Dutse.

He explained, that, the need for completing some projects and the increase of federal allocation as a result of fuel subsidy removal made it imperative for the state government to forward the supplementary budget.

“Following the fuel subsidy removal the state has received the sum of N7bn as first trench from Federal Government and N21bn special grant for Infrastructures approved to each of the 36 states and Abuja”

According to the commissioner some of the sectorsr to be financed from the supplementary budget include Ministry of Works and Transport N13.8b ministry of Health N2b , Education N3b, Finance N2.4b Jigawa Road Maintainance Agency (JIRMA).

Gantsa added that, the supplementary budget will be sent to the State House of Assembly for legislative work and approval.

“This is the second supplementary Budget for the state within a span of five months with 13Bn earlier approved in March and all will be used to fund damaged drainages , bridges and other essentials services across the state”.

On his part, the Commissioner of Information, Youth Sport and Culture, Hon Sagiru Musa revealed that, the council has also approved over N192m for extension of drainages in Kafin Hausa local government.
