Schools e-Learning Policy: FHANI Begins Implementation Of 12 Months Advocacy Project In Kaduna

Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative, FHANI begins a 12 month Advocacy project on Tuesday 15/11/22 for the formulation and adoption of e-learning policy and implementation framework in public secondary schools in Kaduna State.

The funder, Rise Up, is based at the Public Health Institute, Oakland California, USA.
FHANI Chairman, Alh Tijanni Bala Mohammed who announced this in a statement in Kaduna, said Nigeria is a signatory to the Safe School Declaration Protocol.

In 2020, the Kaduna state government had threatened parents to send their children to school or risk going to jail.

However, schools in the State have become largely unsafe due to series of attacks by bandits and terrorists.

A report released in 2020 by universal basic education personnel audit on Kaduna State, disclosed that there were over 500,000 out of school children in the state, mainly due to insecurity most of which are found in Kajuru, Igabi, Chikun, Giwa and Birnin Gwari LGAs.
According to the report, out of the 2,425,560 children between the ages of 10 and 18 years, an estimated number of 524,670 are out of school . 68% of which are girls.

According to the current data from Kaduna State annual security report of accountability and transparency 2021, 74% of girls affected by insecurity and their communities displaced, drop out of school and just 20% transit to other schools in different secured location.

This project aimed to advocate for the formulation and adoption of an e-Learning policy and implementation framework in public secondary schools in Kaduna State to be piloted in 5 above LGAs mostly affected by insecurity.
The provisions of e-Learning in schools will improve enrollment, retention and learning outcomes.
