As the government of Liberia embarks on serious security measures on illicit drugs importation in the country, the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency detachment in Bomi County has arrested thirty eight (38) years old, Oldman Paul for illegally in possession of 11 plates of compressed high-grade Marijuana with street value at US $1,936 or it’s equivalent to 290,400 Liberian dollars at the Klay check point in Bomi County, a major highway to the nation’s capital Monrovia.
The LDEA Acting Commander, Papa Gumbo told State Radio ELBC 99.9 FM that suspect, Oldman Paul was arrested on Friday, July 15, 2022, while en route from Jenehwaynay to Montserrado County.
Col. Gumbo further narrated that suspect Paul is a commercial driver and was on board a Nissan 4 runner Jeep with some Passengers moving along with him.
He at the same time stated that after their preliminary investigation he was informed by the suspect that the drugs arrested belonged to an unidentified passenger who was on board his vehicle and currently on the run.
Special Agent Papa Gumbo explained that this brings to two the numbers of arrests made since he took over the Bomi as Acting LDEA Commander.
He attributed the successes made so far to proper cooperation and collaboration from his officers assigned across the County while outlining the lack of mobility, Office space, and low manpower as challenges confronting the smooth operations of LDEA in Bomi County.
