Nigeria: Akwa Ibom Allays Fears Over Airport Accident Involving Its Parked Aircraft

Akwa Ibom State Government has assured stakeholders not to panic over the recent minor accident involving Ibom Air.

“There was an accident at Execujet, which included a private jet hanger and apron in Lagos, where a Global Express aircraft hit the parked State aircraft, in which it damaged its nose cone and radar,” a statement by State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, says.

“The accident, which happened while our jet was parked at its allotted parking point and the Global Express jet was taxing to its parking point. The pilot and the management of the offending aircraft have earnestly accepted responsibility of the accident.

“Consequently, the aviation industry which a highly regulated sector that runs on insurance, the insurers have underwritten the risk and the state plane will be back to use soon,” the statement added.
