Nigeria: You Are Ambassadors Of Peace, NGO Tells Kaduna Community Leaders

By Josepg Edegbo

The Executive Director, Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF), Iliya Kure has stressed the need for community leaders to be seen as Ambassadors of Peace in their Domains.

Speaking during an advocacy visit to the District Head of Kufana, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr Titus Dauda on Tuesday, Kure said, AMDF places peace building as front burner of its activities towards attaining a stable Society.

He said it was disturbing to note that Kaduna has become one of the volatile States in the North and that because of the role of the media in peace building, the AMDF planned to train journalists in that direction.

Such training, Kure explained, would enable the journalists to be sensitive in their reportage.

The Executive Director told the District Head that the team was in the palace to thank him for his support and contribution to the success of the AMDF’s activities, especially its girls education project in Kaduna State.

He solicited continued support and cooperation with the journalists who would be meeting traditional rulers in the course of their duties .

Responding, the District Head, Mr. Dauda, lauded the activities of AMDF and promised to continue to identify with the NGO whenever called upon..

He said the people were not happy over the persistent crisis in the area and that efforts were however being made by government and other stakeholders to contain the situation.
