COVID-19 Lockdown: Kano Hospital Moves To Avert Neonatal Deaths

 The Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria, has taken precautionary measures to avert neonatal deaths and save lives of new babies born with congenital abnormalities and other health complications amid COVID-19 lockdown.
To this end, the Hospital has given out help lines to mothers with pressing needs.
The Hospital’s head of Department of Paediatrics, Dr. lbrahim Aliyu who disclosed this on Thursday said its Units are opened for 24hours Services irespective of Covid-19 or lockdown.
Dr. Aliyu warned the mothers against any form of delay saying any slightest delay at home due to lockdown may cause serious effect or damage to the new neonate.
According to him, “We called on women who gave birth to babies with congenital abnormality or any health problem to quickly come to the Paediatrics Emergency Unit of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano for evaluation.
“We assured that the Paediatrics Emergency Unit of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital is open for 24hours Services as well as the Special Baby Care Unit in respective of Covid 19 or lockdown.
“Any slightest delay at home due to lockdown may cause serious effect or damage to the new neonate.
“Here are also the numbers of doctors for their Speciality Clinics for parents who wish to call and make enquiry from their Speciality doctor(s),” Dr. Aliyu however stated.
