Nigeria: FG Commissions Erosion Control Project in Gombe

Federal Government has Commissioned a gully erosion control project in Kaltungo and Kumo communities in Gombe State, northeast of the conutry.

The project is aimed at addressing incessant flooding arising from dumping of refuse in  drainages

The Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh who stated this while speaking at the commissioning and handing over of the project, said that this was part of the federal government effort in the control of erosion in some States of the federation.

He assured a follow up of the second phase of the project at kaltungo and Kumo which he said would commence soon as the first phase was completed.

On agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe assured the people of Kaltungo and Kumo. of government support by proving model farm implements at fifty percent subsidy while some would be given free.

He commended the people of the area for their agricultural revolution saying, government shall continue to support the farmers with model planters and sprayers for easy farming.

The Minister visited the Emirs of Kaltungo Engineer Sale Muhammad and that of Akko, Alhaji  Umar Atiku who commended the federal government and the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari in his effort of revamping the agricultural sector as well as security, especially in the North East.

However, the Minister of Agriculture advised civil servants to engage in farming activities which the Nigeria constitution permits.
