Nigeria: Kidnapped Zamfara Sports Commissioner’s Wife, Children Regain Freedom – Police

The Wife and Children of Zamfara State Commissioner for Youths, Sport and Skills Acquisition,  Abdullahi Gurbin-bore who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen about two weeks ago have regain their freedom.

Zamfara state Commissioner of Police Mr Kenneth Ebrimson made the disclosure at the Police Headquarters, Gusau Northwest of the country while parading corpses of four armed bandits killed by the police.

 “I am happy to announce to you this evening that the kidnapped wife, children and relatives of the state commissioner for Youths Sport and Skills Acquisition, Abdullahi Gurbin-bore who were kidnapped last 13 days have regain freedom.

Ebrimson said the abducted family members were released due to the effective collaboration of security agencies in the state.

“No kobo was paid to bandits before they released the victim. They were released due to the pressure given them by police and other security agencies”, he said.

He said the four dead bodies were killed by the police in an attempt to attack Kukewa village in Tsafe local government. The Police Boss said the Divisional Police Officer of Tsafe Division had in the early hours of Monday received a distress call that armed bandits in large number invaded the village.

“The Police and vigilante groups led by the DPO of Tsafe division, engaged the bandits in a gun duel where four bandits were killed and other escaped with possible wounds.

In his reaction, the elated sports Commissioner confirmed that all victims have safely returned home.

It could be recalled that the wife, three biological children including twins and three relatives of the sports Commissioner were abducted at his home town Gurbin-bore town of Zurmi local government area of the state.
