Gombe (Nigeria) – Ahead of the 2017 eid-el-fitr, a Non-Governmental Organization, Lawanti Development Association in Gombe state, northeast of the country has donated clothes to 256 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) in the community.
Chairman of the Association, Abu Ubaida, while presenting the items at Lawanti village in Akko local government area on Wednesday said, the Association renders such assistance to OVCs during annually celebrations in the area..
Ubaida, called on well spirited individuals in the community and the state at large to assist the OVCs in their own small ways.
“You do not have to wait for a festive period, you can render your assistance at any time, through the Association” he said.
Also speaking, Sani Aliyu, chairman planning committee said, the event is observed annually and the Association source for funds from well spirited individuals.
According to him, the mosquito treated nets were provided by the Gombe State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
Responding on behalf of the parents and caregivers of beneficiaries, Ezra Sambo, commended the Association for its gesture.
He said the Association treats everyone equal irrespective of religion and tribe.
Also commenting on the gesture, Usman Barade a resident of Lawanti community said the group has been providing scholarship to the less privileged.
He urged them to continue doing the good work and prayed for the sustainability of the Association.
The items donated included wrappers, brocade yard and mosquito treated nets.
