Kaduna (Nigeria) – The newly elected Governor of Kaduna state, Northwest Nigeria, Nasir El-Rufai has described his victory at the polls as a victory for the Kaduna state people and the Nigerian democracy.

He stated this shortly after he was declared winner of the state governorship election by INEC.

El-Rufai said, why his victory is for the Nigeria democracy is because this was the first time both at the national and the state level that the opposition would defeat an incumbent governor or president

According to him, this was made possible by new innovation of the electoral umpire, INEC, especially with the introduction of the card reader machine which has helped in controlling rigging and manipulation of number.

El-Rufai who thanked the people of the state, assured them that his administration would give them a decent government and ensure that the resources of the state did not end up in the bank account of very few, but rather it would be used for developmental project that would benefit everybody.

“We would treat every citizen of Kaduna state equal and we have vowed not to discriminate against anyone either based on religion, ethnic, or other affiliation. We will be guided by the principle of delivering services to the millions of people who live in Kaduna state. And make the state great again.

“We would ensure that everybody in the state is treated equal and we would remove the impression of settlers and resident ideology from the people’s mind and kaduna state shall be the example of what a nation is suppose to be.

“We want our people to live in peace and harmony in a secure environment where they can go and sleep with their two eyes close,” he said.

Speaking in the same vein, the APC Senator-Elect for Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani said he was highly elated because the victory at the national and state level is a revolution in Nigerian politics that would benefit the masses.

“This victory has shown that Nigeria did not only want change but works toward the change as shown in the March 28 and April 11 polls. It is now a duty on us those elected to uphold this trust by uniting our people, revamping our economy, fighting corruption to zero level and providing security.

“My Mandate is to represent my people in the upper chamber, work for legislation that could tackle insurgency and put food on the table of our people.” Shehu Sani said.
