As Nigerians join their Muslim counterparts the world over to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Idris wants those in authority to fulfill promises made during the elections.
The charge is contained in his Eid-el Kabir message through his Media Team, to felicitate with the Muslims in Kogi State and the country at large.
“I want to use this occasion to remind those in authority that they have signed a social contract with Nigerians, hence the need for them to respect the laws of the land and serve the people well, irrespective of religious and ethnic differences.
While urging Muslims and others to have strong faith in Allah and imbibe positivity for the progress of the State and the nation as a whole, Alhaji Abubakar also tasks Nigerians to pray fervently and seek divine intervention for various challenges facing the country.
He reminded celebrants that Eid-el-Kabir goes beyond slaughtering of ram, hence the need for them to remain obedient, pray and work to ensure peace and unity in the country.
“It is important for Islamic faithful to see the occasion as a period of sober reflection because of insecurity in the country”.
Alhaji Abubakar emphasized the need for Nigerians, irrespective of religious belief, to close ranks as citizens and rebuild confidence in themselves for the betterment of the country.
“Anybody who wants Allah to be pleased with him should follow the tenets that guide the Eid-el-Kabir festival.” Alhaji Abubakar said.
