The National Vice Chairman, Northwest Zone of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Salihu Mohammed Lukman has said that any party that wants to produce President in Nigeria must have its support from the Zone.
The APC National leader stated this while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Kaduna shortly after a maiden meeting of the party’s Zonal Publicity Committee.
Describing the Northwest Zone as the heart beat of politics in Nigeria, Lukman noted that in all elections held so far in the country, the Zone has been recording the highest number of votes.
“We are conscious of the fact that the Northwest is the backbone of the APC. We have to do everything possible to win the 2023 elections”.
He disclosed that the maiden meeting of the Zonal Publicity Committee headed by the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Dr. Nasir Gawuna was to identify major priorities including mobilisation of citizens to register and collect their PVCs.
The business of the party, he said, is to win and they have supporters that are yet to register or collect their Permanent Voters Card.
For that reason, he said, whatever resolution reached at the meeting which is made up of publicity secretaries drawn from the States had to go back to their respective States and mobilize all the Local govts and step down to Wards level to create awareness for people to register.
He emphasized that officials of the State and the Zonal Secretary would be meeting at least monthly to look at challenges facing the party in the Zone and come up with how they could be addressed.
He disclosed that the rest Five Field Operation Committees would also be meeting every month to strengthen structures of the party at the State and Local govt. levels with a view to raising consciousness and mobilize people for the party.
Among the field operation Committees set up by the party are, the publicity, Women mobilization, Youths and People With Disability.
