Nigeria : Gombe To Construct New NYSC Orientation Camp

Gombe State Government, northeast of the country is to construct  a new permanent orientation camp for the National Youth Service Corps at Dojo community in Kwami local government area of the State.

Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo disclosed this on Monday at the swearing- in ceremony of  2018 Batch A’ corps members deployed to the state.

He said  the construction would commence immediately to enable subsequent orientation courses hold in a conducive environment.

“My administration places the needs of the scheme on top of its priorities” he said

The Governor therefore urged the corps members to respect every camp official bearing in mind that respect begets respect.

Also speaking, the Chairman NYSC Governing Board and  Head of the civil service of the state, Adamu Haruna who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Duties, Yakubu Abba Bajoga said the introduction of the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme into the course content of the orientation exercise and its sustainability for the past six years, is a plus to the scheme.

Earlier, the state NYSC Coordinator, David Pwanidi Markson said out of over 2,500 corps members posted  to the state, only 1,624 registered for the 2018 Batch A service year, comprising 863 males and 761 females.

He therefore called on them  to  shun  negative behaviors such as violence, membership of cults, indiscipline and bigotry as the NYSC management  will punish anyone found wanting in accordance to the provision of the NYSC bylaws.
